SOLID WOOD KITCHEN WORKTOPS
We can supply various high quality solid wood worktops from oak, walnut, iroko and beech. With 30 years of carpentry and joinery experience you can rest assured your worktops are being fitted by specialists. Solid wood is a living material, it expands and contracts to the surrounding humidity levels. Specialist installation is required to stop any bowing or cracking of the worktops.
We prefer to take a template at your premises and do all the fabrication back at our workshop. This ensures the highest possible quality is maintained. Two coats of danish oil is applied to all edges before any cuts are made. Followed by another four to all cut-outs like tap holes, joins, sink cut out and drainer grooves. This is in accordance with the manufacturer's guidelines.
Kitchen cabinets must be level and any voids for appliances should have a supporting timber at the back to ensure maximum support. Any solid top cabinets must have a series of holes drilled to allow the worktop to breath, 10mm holes will be drilled in the front mullion to accommodate a screw and washer. This is to allow the worktop to move freely and prevent bowing. A 5mm gap must be left at each edge to allow for movement.
We offer supply only with all of the solid wood worktops we have on offer. Lead time is usually within 5 days.
If your solid wood worktops look a bit worse for wear and tired, we can polish them up and give them and give them a few coats of new treatment. Properly treated timber worktops will last a long time. Contact us for a price!
